Important Info:
Hello, and welcome to the EPHS Swim Family! Below you will find important info for the 2023-2024 season and a general guide for new families:
Daily Practice schedule:
Our practices begin at 7:00 am , Monday - Friday at the Westside Natatorium. Swimmers will have swim class on either "A" days or "B" days and on the day a swimmer has class they will get an extra hour of practice time. Our first two days of the week will end at 8:00 am at the natatorium and resume at 8:45 am for strength training at the high school. We will stay in the water on all remaining days of the week for between 45 minutes and an hour. Transportation will be provided to school by bus if needed on the days you have swim class. Families will be responsible for coordinating transportation to school on days you don't have swim class when released from the pool at 8:00 am. Breakfast is provided in the Cafeteria during the transition to class from practice. There will also be an optional strength training session offered Friday afternoons directly after school.
Season Trajectory / Tryout Schedule:
We will be conducting tryouts this season in the second week of school. These will be held on Wednesday-Friday, August 16 - 18th from 6:30am - 8:00 am. Families will need to coordinate their own transportation for their swimmers (if you are having difficulty doing so please reach out to coaching staff to coordinate carpooling with a teammate.) Students will not be able to participate in tryouts unless they have been cleared through rank one and submitted their completed physical to training staff (Please see above for more info.) New swimmers are encouraged to register for our swim class on either "A" or "B" days - those who do not make the team will be transferred into P.E. during that class time.
Regular practices will begin a few weeks later, likely at the beginning of September. During our first weeks of practice, Fridays will be optional to allow our swimmers time to adjust to the early wakeup time. Once meets begin practice will be mandatory Monday - Friday. While our meet schedule has yet to be released you can find last year's meet schedule for reference at the following link:

PAPF form process:
All new swimmers are required to fill out a PAPF form determining eligibility to compete in the 2023-2024 swim season. Those who live in the EPHS attendance zone or attended Wiggs Middle School will automatically be granted eligibility to swim in varsity competition this season. Those who live outside the attendance zone but in the EPISD district will be granted eligibility IF they are enrolled in one of our school's magnet programs. For those with unique situations who are curious if they will be eligible to compete in varsity competitions this season, you are encouraged to reach out to Coach Gailey to schedule a time to talk at [email protected]. The PAPF process will begin during the first week(s) of school.
